Effective engagement practice

Commenting, followed by social media. My goal is starting the site was to become a place for community conversation. I have one competitor in Edmonds -- a weekly newspaper that also has a website. No one leaves comments on their website stories. Everyone knows that if you want to have a conversation, you come to My Edmonds News.

Revenue challenges

Time -- finding enough time to accomplish the revenue-generating tasks when I am still also overseeing all the news coverage (and in some cases writing stories myself). I would like to eventually bring in enough income to hire a managing editor (at a competitive salary) so that I can focus on revenue generation. But the income is just not there to do so.
