Maryland Reporter is a nonprofit site covering state government since 2009. Revenue: Grants, sponsorhips, donations, advertising and payments from news organizations that carry its content. Maryland Reporter does not accept political advertising.

Introduction by publisher

The site was begun with funding from the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity, which last for three years. Other major funding came from the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation, the Knight Foundation, the Abell Foundation, the Leidy Foundation and the Rothschild Arts Foundation, along with corporate sponsorships, donations, advertising.
Fundraising continues to be a challenge.
