AntiochTenn.com covers schools, crime, business news and events in a suburban community in southeast Nashville. Antioch, zip code 37013, is a diverse area that is the largest community in Nashville. Our focus is to recapture the "small town newspaper feel" in a digital format. Revenue: Advertising, subscriptions.

Introduction by publisher

AntiochTenn.com focuses on the Antioch community of Nashville. The Antioch zip code has about 80,000 residents from diverse ethnic, socio-economic, and educational backgrounds.

We cover local news, events, business, and schools in and around Antioch. We are trying to recapture the small town newspaper feel in a digital format.

We founded AntiochTenn.com to fill gaps in local coverage left by the major metro paper and television stations. We also wish to be a central repository of local information.

Effective engagement practice

Facebook is our leading traffic generator, followed by direct navigation to the site. We are frequently surprised by how many people say they have us bookmarked.

We are very engaged in social media and that has been our focus for engagement over the past 15 months. In Spring 2016, will be starting a series of events (our first) focused on the business community.

Business challenge

The main challenge is being a one-man show. I spent years as a newspaper publisher, and find juggling every hat quite difficult. I've sought sales support on a commission basis, but hiring good sales people is the most difficult job in media and to date none have worked out.
