Mission Local is a news site focused on covering the community in San Francisco's Mission District. The site was founded in 2008 as part of UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism and is now run independently by Lydia Chávez, a Berkeley journalism professor and former New York Times reporter. Most of what happens here also happens citywide so we cover the city from the ground up - and our ground is the Mission District.
We also do investigative pieces.
This is not a revenue source, but SF Gate can push traffic to our site.
We got a lot of kudos for covering a major fire here despite our offices being in the building. Here is a link to the fire coverage.
