VTDigger is an online only, government watchdog reporting shop that is dedicated to daily coverage of Vermont politics, education, the environment, health care, business, energy, human services and state finances. Led by journalist Anne Galloway, it is a project of the nonprofit Vermont Journalism Trust.

Introduction by publisher

VTDigger.org is a Vermont news organization that publishes in-depth, daily reports on state government, legislative action and business. Our mission is to hold government accountable and to make complex public policy issues easy for readers to understand. We were launched in 2009 at a time when news organizations in Vermont were laying off Statehouse reporters. We started with no capital and now have a budget of $1 million a year. We are now expanding into local markets that have inadequate news coverage.

Business challenge

We are making significant inroads on underwriting, but it has taken longer to establish accounts than anticipated. We are working on a new media kit that will feature more options for advertisers.
