The Fayetteville Flyer is an online news source focusing on professional city government reporting and coverage of local business, arts and events.
We partnered with a local broker to start a real estate company as a secondary personal income source.
We started our site because we were frustrated with the state of local news in our city. Fayetteville is in the northwest corner of Arkansas, along with three other municipalities along I-49. The area tends to be categorized as "Northwest Arkansas" and the traditional news organizations try to cover the entire region.
Fayetteville has nearly 75,000 residents of its own. It's home to the state's flagship university, and has for decades been considered a progressive city that sets the bar high.
With a vibrant arts community and a wonderful roster of local shops and restaurants, Fayetteville deserves a dedicated information source.
Social media is currently leading the pack in terms of engagement. We have a strong following of visitors to our homepage, but Facebook has emerged as the leading driver of traffic.
We push info to over 30,000 followers on Instagram, but without the ability to include links in captions, the traffic return is very low.
